October 20, 2025. State Library of Pennsylvania becomes sixth statewide implementation partner of the Skilltype talent management platform. The Office of Commonwealth Libraries announced today their statewide pilot of Skilltype, a cutting-edge software platform designed to support skills management and professional development for library workers. This software equips public and academic libraries across Pennsylvania with personalized tools to identify, develop, and track the evolving competencies of their teams. The partnership marks the sixth statewide implementation of Skilltype in the United States.


September 12, 2025. Skilltype and Library Journal/School Library Journal partner to expand professional development access. Skilltype, the talent-management platform for information professionals, is partnering with Library Journal (LJ), a leading authority in librarianship for nearly 150 years, and School Library Journal (SLJ), the premier voice in school librarianship for over 70 years. The collaboration integrates LJ and SLJ's professional development programs directly into the Skilltype platform, giving libraries streamlined access to trusted training resources at exclusive discounts.


August 1, 2025. Monash University becomes latest in Australia to go live on Skilltype. Monash University Library, one of Australia's prestigious Group of Eight universities, is now LIVE on the Skilltype platform. As the exclusive distributor of Skilltype in Australia and New Zealand, CAVAL will provide Monash University Library with access to the platform's skills management workflows and dedicated help desk support. Designed for libraries, Skilltype uses data to equip libraries with training and tools that reinforce each library's staff development cycle. Skilltype uses real-time inventory of employee skills and interests to curate on-demand training and development, ensuring staff have the right training resources at the right time.


May 29, 2025. The University of Queensland Library adopts Skilltype for staff development. The University of Queensland Library has joined the growing number of organizations adopting Skilltype for staff development and becomes the first library from the Group of Eight to do so. As the exclusive distributor of Skilltype in Australia and New Zealand, CAVAL will provide UQ Library with access to the platform's skills management workflows and dedicated help desk support. This multi-year agreement enables UQ Library to track progress in closing skill gaps over time.


September 18, 2024. Individual subscriptions now available to Skilltype. Skilltype, the leading talent management platform for libraries and information professionals, announces the launch of its new Individual Subscription Offer. This new service will allow individual professionals to access Skilltype's comprehensive suite of career development tools, normally available only through institutional partnerships, empowering them to take their learning and career advancement into their own hands. February 22, 2024. Skilltype and UCLA DataX partner to surface data expertise. UCLA's DataX initiative and Skilltype announced a partnership to surface data expertise across the campus community, marking a significant milestone for higher education. Skilltype, an American software company, provides talent management software that uses real-time data to help information professionals and their teams identify, develop, and share expertise. This collaboration extends Skilltype's expertise in mapping skills to the broader university, empowering a new vertical of data science professionals that multiplies our target audience


December 5, 2023. Nonprofit Annual Reviews Becomes Strategic Partner. Annual Reviews has become Skilltype's newest strategic partner through a minority investment. Similarly to Skilltype's other investors, Annual Reviews supports the development and training of information professionals. This prepares them for an exciting and fulfilling future.


October 3, 2023. University of Notre Dame Hesburgh Libraries signs multi-year agreement with Skilltype for talent management. Skilltype, the talent management platform for libraries, announced a multi-year agreement with the Hesburgh Libraries at the University of Notre Dame. The Hesburgh Libraries' mission, vision, and strategic framework are designed to help advance Notre Dame's aspirations to be recognized as one of the world's leading research universities while prioritizing human and professional flourishing. Each member of the library community plays a key role in advancing strategic goals and objectives, sustaining critical operations, and defining shared values. Together, the organization is building an inclusive, diverse, and dynamic culture as they elevate Notre Dame's teaching and research agenda. Toward this end, the Hesburgh Libraries are investing in a long-term skill development strategy. Partnering with Skilltype creates an opportunity to institute a data-driven approach to identify skill gaps among library staff. Also, it allows the development of personalized, automated training plans for them.


August 2, 2023. Jamie Lin becomes Skilltype's Head of Community and User Research. Skilltype announced the appointment of Jamie Lin as the new Head of Community and User Research. Lin, an information professional with a rich background in instructional design, community building, and professional development, will spearhead efforts to understand Skilltype's diverse audience while increasing connections among users.


March 20, 2023. Johnny Boursiquot becomes Skilltype's founding Chief Technology Officer. Skilltype announced that Johnny Boursiquot has joined the company as its Founding Chief Technology Officer. He will join Skilltype April 3rd, 2023 from Salesforce, where he currently serves as a lead platform engineer. Boursiquot brings more than two decades of experience in software engineering and leadership to the role, having previously served as a technical advisor to the Skilltype team since its launch in June of 2020.

Using a controlled vocabulary of information science competencies, interests, and trainings, Skilltype identifies and closes skill gaps across the library while simultaneously enabling librarians – regardless of their degree or job title – to manage their personal learning and career development.
