    Breeding, Marshall. Talis exits the library automation industry to focus on the Semantic Web. March 4, 2011. Library Technology Guides. In a move that allows Talis to concentrate on its growing semantic web business which has been its strategic focus in recent years, the company has divested its library automation unit to Capita Group, a large UK-based outsourcing company. Talis Information Limited, a business unit of Talis Group has been acquired by Capita Group, in a transaction valued at about $32 million dollars that closed on March 3, 2011. Capita Group ranks as one of the largest UK companies specializing in business process outsourcing and professional services.

    August 9, 2021. Parentpay Group announces acquisition of ESS in a deal that cements its position as the UK'S leading ed-tech. ParentPay Group, Europe's leading provider of cashless payments and parental engagement solutions for schools, has completed its acquisition of Education Software Solutions from Montagu Private Equity LLP, in a deal that makes the enlarged group the UK's largest education technology business. The acquisition is backed by Montagu, a leading European private equity firm, which will take a significant minority interest in the ParentPay Group as part of the deal.


    July 12, 2021. CMA approves the merger of ESS and ParentPay. Competition and Markets Authority has unconditionally approved Education Software Solutions' merger with ParentPay. ESS, the leading provider of educational software in the UK whose databases are used in more than 19,000 schools, will become part of the ParentPay Group once the merger is completed. ParentPay is the leading provider of payments systems to the education market in the UK, the Netherlands and Germany, with over 18,000 customers. ESS was acquired by Montagu from Capita at the beginning of this year, with the intention of merging the business with ParentPay once the CMA had given its approval. Following the merger, Montagu will become an investment partner in the enlarged ParentPay Group.


    December 14, 2020. Agreement to sell Education Software Solutions. Capita plc announces that it has agreed to sell its Education Software Solutions business to Tiger UK Bidco Limited, a newly formed company established by funds advised by Montagu Private Equity, in a deal that values ESS at up to £400m.


    December 14, 2020. Montagu Private Equity to acquire Capita's ESS business and invest in ParentPay Group, ESS to become part of ParentPay group, subject to approval. Montagu Private Equity, a leading European private equity firm, announced it has agreed to acquire the Education Software Solutions business (“ESS”) of Capita plc and has also agreed to invest in ParentPay Group (“ParentPay”), a leading provider of education technology. Following successful completion of both investments, ESS will become part of the ParentPay Group.


    February 20, 2020. ParentPay appoints former PayPal managing director as its CEO as it targets new markets. The ParentPay Group, the market-leading payment platform for schools, has announced that Mark Brant, the former Managing Director of PayPal UK, will become its new CEO, as the company eyes up further expansion. Clint Wilson, the current CEO, who has led the business for 15 years, will become the Group Corporate Development Director.


    January 9, 2016. North Yorkshire County Council selects Capita to deliver its library management system. Capita's software services business has been selected by North Yorkshire County Council to deliver its library management system (LMS) following a competitive tender process. The new contract with Capita will help the local authority to reduce costs while protecting the service that it delivers to its customers.


    July 29, 2015. National College of Ireland chooses Capita to improve students' library experience. Capita's software services business has been selected by National College of Ireland to deliver its library management system, following a competitive procurement process.


    February 10, 2015. Capita library software chosen by York St John University. Capita's software services business has been selected to deliver its library management system to York St John University following a competitive tender process. York St John has purchased Capita's cloud-based Chorus LMS, along with its web-based interface Soprano which will enable library staff to assist students on the spot, anywhere in the library or on campus, using tablet devices. York St John will also use Capita's PRISM resource discovery solution.


    May 20, 2014. Capita selected to support Bracknell Forest library services. Bracknell Forest Council has selected Chorus, Capita Software Services' cloud-based library management system (LMS), to provide an enhanced range of library services across its nine sites. The software will provide staff with an up-to-date and user-friendly library system and customers with an improved user experience.


    January 10, 2014. Capita delivers bespoke library management system to further education colleges.

    Jan 23, 2017 ParentPay acquires Schoolcomms
    ParentPay Limited, the UK's leading provider of school payment services, and Schoolcomms, a leader in parental engagement software for schools, have merged to create the UK's leading provider of integrated parent payment and engagement services for schools. ParentPay Limited has acquired 100% of the issued share capital in Isuz Limited, the provider of the Schoolcomms products and services.

    Mar 04, 2011 Talis acquired by Capita Group
    Capita Group acquired Talis Information Limited for a consideration, on a cash-free, debt-free basis of £18.5 million, plus up to a further £2.5 million depending on TIL's profit performance in the year to 31 March 2012. Talis made an operating profit of £3.5 million on turnover of £7 million for the year ended March 31, 2010.

    2021 Education Software Solutions Accomplishments Narrative

    Education Software Solutions (ESS) is the UK’s leading EdTech company. Our solutions for student and library information management are used in more than 19,000 schools, universities, colleges, and local authorities, in addition to an international presence. Our parent company, ParentPay, is the leading provider of payments systems to the education market in the UK, the Netherlands and Germany, with over 18,000 customers.

    ESS was acquired by Montagu Private Equity from Capita PLC at the beginning of 2021 always with the intention of merging the business with ParentPay, which was subject to approval by the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). Unconditional approval for the merger was given in August 2021 and Montagu remains as an investment partner in the enlarged ParentPay Group.
