The Ruth Lilly Auxiliary Library Facility (ALF) is a secure, high-density shelving facility designed to provide secure storage environments for Indiana University collections. It provides pristine preservation environments for and offers rapid access to all print materials, archives, manuscripts, film, and media from the IU Libraries. The facility features a secure storage vault for print materials, art collections, film collections and textile collections, each with individual temperature and humidity set points that are ideal for the categories of collection formats inside. The facility also includes the E. Lingle Craig Preservation Laboratory (which housed the IU Libraries Preservation Department), collection treatment freezers, space for accessioning, delivery vehicle garages, receiving, lending, conference, limited public use (by appointment only) and the facility staff.
