13 November 2018. The University of the Basque Country, the public research institution in the Basque Country of Spain, is now using OCLC WorldShare Management Services as its library management system. ESEHU has 16 branches and almost 1 million bibliographic records and serves more than 66,000 students, faculty and staff.
WorldShare Management Services is a cloud-based library services platform that offers all the applications needed to manage a library including acquisitions, circulation, metadata management, resource sharing, license management and a single-search discovery interface to connect library users to the information they need. WMS also includes a range of reports based on local data that help libraries understand their activities and track key metrics over time.
"We are very pleased to have Universidad del País Vasco, a prestigious university with a leading global reputation, go live on the WorldShare Platform," said Eric van Lubeek, Vice-President, Managing Director, OCLC EMEA and APAC.
"OCLC, ESEHU and our Library staff have worked hard on this implementation reaching all set goals. This is an important step for our library—but also for the international library network, and we are very happy with this move," said Esperanza Iñurrieta Ambrosio, Library Director, University of the Basque Country.
