Datapoint France S.A., Ex Libris' exclusive distributor in France, has been awarded yet another contract to license and implement ALEPH500 in the libraries of a major university in the Paris area.
The new ALEPH licensee is the University of Paris X, better known as the Universite de Nanterre. History buffs will remember that it was from that campus that the student revolt started in 1968 under the leadership of Dany, the Red.
The network of Paris X will comprise the central library, 12 faculty plus 3 institute libraries, together serving about 35,000 users with a collection of 335,000 titles and 615,000 notices. With ALEPH500, the network will dispose of a unified, integrated system in replacement of a cataloging module from SIBIL, circulation software from Mobilprop and a perodics management module from Glas.
Madame Marie-Hélène SEUX, director for the automation project, declares that "ALEPH500 is in conformance with the automation standards of French universities and fulfills the basic functions of our libraries. The web sites, rich with many functionalities, facilitate access to documentary resources, a high-priority objective of our network. Also, the wide international coverage of ALEPH in multi-disciplinary academic libraries vouches for our selection of this system."
