Brodart Automation, a division of Brodart Co., announces that The Buffalo and Erie County Public Library System, in Buffalo, NY, has chosen DartClix to enhance their Public Access Catalog (OPAC). The Buffalo and Erie County Public Library System serves a population of 968,000 people, maintains a total circulation of over 8,300,000, and has more than 3,000,000 holdings.
Lucille M. DeFranks, Assistant Deputy Director, Support Services, states, “As a public library, our purpose is to offer a wide variety of resources so that our patrons may access quality information in an efficient and effective manner. Brodart's DartClix helps us to achieve this goal by complimenting traditional library resources. Not only does DartClix expose patrons to a different information source in a user-friendly and convenient way, but it does so without a large investment of staff time and resources. The Buffalo and Erie County Public Library is always looking for innovative ways to enhance its services and DartClix has truly allowed us to do just that.” The Buffalo and Erie County Library System OPAC can be found at http://www.buffalolib.org/Catalog/links.html.
DartClix is a subscription service providing cataloged web sites in MARC format, ready to import directly into a library's existing bibliographic file where they are immediately accessible via the OPAC. Patrons can then click on the URL in the record and go directly to the web site. Subscribing libraries will receive a backlist containing thousands of professionally selected and cataloged records plus a monthly file of 500 new records.
For over twenty-five years, Brodart Automation has been providing libraries and media centers with systems, software, and services, including library management systems, media management systems, Internet solutions, retrospective conversion, cataloged web sites, and bibliographic services.
