Press Release: Ex Libris [February 23, 2006]

The Ex Libris Group is pleased to announce that the ALEPH 500 integrated library system has gone into production at the Agricultural and Food Library (AFL) of the Czech Republic. The AFL is the third largest specialized library in the world, focusing on information in the fields of agriculture, forestry and the food industry.

"The Agricultural and Food Library has been using ALEPH 500 since August 2005. We sought a comprehensive, reliable, sophisticated information system to reflect the new demands of our library. We believe that ALEPH 500 will help us in effectively carrying out our work within the library, and in cooperation with other agricultural and food libraries in the Czech Republic, and with similar libraries abroad," said Martin Kvitek, Head of the Agricultural and Food Library at the Institute of Agricultural and Food Information Prague (IAFI/ÚZPI). "ALEPH 500 has been implemented in all areas of library management from the Czech Agricultural and Food Bibliography, to acquisitions, cataloguing, and circulation. Our readers, who include researchers, academic staff, students, civil servants, and the general public, appreciate the online ALEPH catalogue."

"We are proud to cooperate with such an important library as the Agricultural and Food Library of the Czech Republic and to help them overcome the challenge of serving their patrons in the scientific and technical community who rely on the library for information relevant to their work," says Pavel Krbec, Ex Libris distributor for the Czech and Slovak Republics.

The Agricultural and Food Library of the Czech Republic joins a growing list of major universities and institutes in Europe, North and South America, and Japan, helping to promote agricultural research with Ex Libris products.
