Abstract: Eloquent Systems Inc. announced that WebLibrary and WebArchives have been selected as the software of choice for the public records office of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong government library.

North Vancouver--Eloquent Systems Inc. is pleased to announce that their state of the art software, WebLibrary and WebArchives, has been selected as the software of choice for the public records office of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong government library. Eloquent Systems' sophisticated WebGENCAT application will convert the data of approximately one million archival records in both Chinese and English, including over 50,000 government publications, 20,000 historical photographs, and approximately 800,000 historical records in a variety of formats including paper, photographic, micrographic, audio-visual and electronic media. Phase I of the conversion will be completed in the fall of 2002, which will allow the public to use the archives and government library via the Internet. The second phase of the conversion will be completed in early 2003, which will then enable circulation control and allow the public to make requests for materials, via remote access.

Before going with Eloquent Systems Inc. software, users of the automated collections in Hong Kong, were required to use different workstations to locate the information they needed as they were maintained in two separate computer systems. With the installation of Eloquent Systems Inc. WebLibrary and WebArchives software, users will now be able to have remote, instant and integrated information access.

Eloquent Systems Inc is one of the few companies in the world that has software that is capable of supporting simultaneous users of a variety of languages. Eloquent Systems Inc. software fully supports the international coding standard ISO 10646, which provides a unified standard for the coding of characters in all major languages in the world, including traditional and simplified Chinese characters.

Currently, many organizations from around the world utilize Eloquent Systems Inc. software to fulfill their library and archival needs, including St. Michaels Hospital in Toronto, California State Archives, New Mexico State Archives, university libraries in the Caribbean, Duke Energy, one of America's largest corporations, for their corporate archives and The Alan Mason Chesney Medical Archives, a department of Johns Hopkins University.

Eloquent Systems offers the world's most advanced application development tools and integrated modular applications for managing large collections.
