SYRACUSE, New York, July 12, 2002 - Gaylord Information Systems (GIS) announced today that the Euless Public Library (Texas) is the latest GALAXY® library to select Polaris as their next library automation system.
Located outside Dallas and Fort Worth, Euless has been described as one of the fastest growing cities in Northeast Tarrant County and has been named one of the Best Managed Cities in the state of Texas. A GALAXY customer since 1996, the library serves the 50,000 residents of the city of Euless and the 1.3 million residents of Tarrant County from one main location. The Euless Public Library has a collection of 93,000 items and an annual circulation of 300,000.
Library Administrator JoAnn Rogers describes the library as "very innovative," which is why they selected Polaris for their next system. "Polaris gives us the tool we need to really promote all the resources of the library," Rogers said. "With Polaris as our cornerstone, we're ready to show our public what the library can do for them with services like virtual reference and access to the library's catalog and other databases from any Internet-enabled remote location." Rogers also said that library patrons will appreciate using a library catalog that has the Windows and web-based environments they're familiar with.
Rogers said that the library staff have seen Polaris in action and found it very easy to use. "Polaris builds on the knowledge that Euless staff already have," she commented. "Our staff are really looking forward to the ease of navigating the system and to doing better statistical analysis through the excellent reporting features Polaris offers. This will allow us to do a better job of demonstrating to our funding authorities the value we bring to the community."
"We are very pleased that Euless Public Library is adopting Polaris to showcase the library as an information hub in their community," commented GIS President Katherine Blauer. "The reactions of the Euless library staff mirror what we have seen from other GALAXY libraries as they recognize how easy Polaris is to use and the benefits of migrating to a new system with a company they know and trust."
