Emeryville, CA-Innovative Interfaces, a leading supplier of Web-based library automation systems, announced a partnership with MuseGlobal, a division of EduLib. MuseGlobal's technology will be used to power MetaFind, a component of Innovative's MAP (Millennium Access Plus) product.
"We're very pleased to be working with Innovative Interfaces. Innovative has always been a leader in their field, and this partnership represents an opportunity for our companies to jointly provide enhanced services to customers," said Kate Noerr, CEO at MuseGlobal.
MAP is an integrated solution that manages access to information resources, guiding patrons and staff to Internet content quickly. It is made up of three key features: Web Access Management, WebBridge and MetaFind. Web Access Management is a remote patron authentication tool that links patrons anywhere in the world directly to external Web servers and databases. WebBridge, a contextual resource linking tool, connects users directly from the bibliographic record display in the Web OPAC and Millennium modules to related resources such as full-text articles, book reviews, or book jacket images. Finally, MetaFind is a universal search interface that allows access to multiple resources with a single search, returning all results in a consistent interface.
Powered by technology from MuseGlobal, MetaFind will enable patrons to search the library's wealth of information resources through one single information gateway. This provides users with a more efficient and effective way to search, retrieve, and use information from multiple and varied sources such as library catalogs, index and abstracting services, full-text databases, electronic journals, image databases, publishers' systems, and more.
"Our alliance with MuseGlobal will enhance MAP MetaFind, providing our libraries with the benefits of easy and robust searching of their digital collections in a simple Web-based environment," said Laurie Davidson, Product Manager at Innovative.
MAP MetaFind will be in beta in late Fall, 2001.
