Today MuseGlobal, Inc. announced an agreement with Transtech Information Co., LTD. of Taiwan to incorporate the MuseSearch™ product into the Transtech TOTALS II library automation system. MuseSearch will provide broadcast search capability, allowing TOTALS II customers to search diverse information resources with a single query. As a MuseGlobal distributor, Transtech will also offer MuseSearch to non-TOTALS II customers.
Transtech has been a library solution provider for over 15 years, having achieved 32% market share with academic and public libraries in Taiwan, before moving into the mainland China market in 1999 with the opening of its Shanghai branch.
"As information technology trends moved toward integration of information resources, we looked for a solution for libraries here. MuseSearch is undoubtedly that solution. It is part of our strategy of moving from an island-wide to a world-wide provider," according to Jentai Tseng, Vice President of Transtech's Knowledge Management Group. "With MuseSearch merged with TOTALS II, our library customers will shortcut the process of integrating both internal and external sources, and their users will save time," Mr. Tseng added.
MuseGlobal CEO Kate Noerr welcomed Transtech as the latest MuseGlobal partner. "Libraries around the world want to make it easier for their patrons to find the right information. Working with Transtech, we are able to extend our reach to a key international market with a proven leader," she commented.
MuseSearch allows unlimited numbers and types of information sources to be searched simultaneously with a single user query. Each search is translated into the native language and protocol of each source, so results are of the highest quality. Written in Java with a modular architecture, MuseSearch can be easily integrated within an organization's existing systems environment. MuseSearch is sold to libraries and information organizations as a standalone research tool to enhance or replace their OPACs, portals or information gateways, and many leading information management software providers also license the core Muse technology for incorporation with their products.
