epixtech, inc. today announced the general release of Horizon Sunrise 7.2, the third major release in the Horizon Sunrise series. Horizon Sunrise 7.2 introduces both the new Sunrise application launcher and an entirely new MARC editor that has incorporated many customer recommendations. Horizon Sunrise is designed to help libraries customize their workflow and eliminate repetitive tasks and sets new standards in staff efficiency and ease of use. Through the application launcher, all library applications are instantly and continuously accessible from the desktop. There is no need to open and close modules, search for utilities or applications, or switch between applications. Horizon Sunrise 7.2 Cataloging also introduces record ownership tracking for consortia environments maintaining independent cataloging records. In Acquisitions, Horizon Sunrise 7.2 supports greater efficiency using the “enhanced EDIFACT” standard to create item records for preprocessed materials without staff intervention.

epixtech is already getting rave reviews. Eric Graham, Assistant Director at MVLC says “The launcher looks great and the capabilities are very exciting, our libraries are going to find this new feature very helpful in the workflow at their libraries.” Chuck Wettergreen, system administrator Ramsey County Public Library says, "The new launcher really simplifies the management of the windows-- getting rid of all the windows and consolidating them gives you finer control of what you can see and do. I see a lot of potential in the control of the whole system."

epixtech's Chief Technical Officer, Julian Critchfield, has overseen the development of Horizon Sunrise 7.2 and made these comments about its release. “The Horizon Sunrise series delivers so many benefits for libraries in terms of streamlining their workflow. Our customers gave us their wish list of features for the ideal MARC editor and I think we've met the mark. Both the application launcher and the MARC editor have received rave reviews from the librarians who've reviewed and tested them.”
