(Carlsbad, CA – March 1, 2002) – EOS International (EOS) Q Series was recently pronounced the clear leader over all library management systems reviewed in an independent evaluation conducted by ISITE Design, Inc. on behalf of their special library client. This recommendation was made after conducting extensive product comparisons and research into the current library automation systems available in the market.
ISITE conducted an exhaustive evaluation of a list beginning with 61 vendors, narrowing it down to four primary vendors capable of handling integration of special library collections: EOS International, Endeavor, Sirsi, and Innovative Interface, Inc. “Many of the vendors advertised ‘cutting edge' technology, but after closer examination, many of them were still operating on architectures rooted in the mid 70's. EOS clearly demonstrated the ability to aggregate the disparate sources of collection information held by our special library client into one database while also providing the option to integrate the existing systems through standards such as MARC and Z39.50,” said ISITE's Director of Technology, George Ross. “With a combination of extremely powerful search capabilities, a flexible implementation path, a well-developed Web interface built on standard Web technologies, an attractive price point and the ability to run in the preferred technology configuration required by our client, EOS International's Q Series was the clear leader in a large field of contenders. The combination of powerful searching, flexible platforms and cost proved to be a formula no one else could touch. Most notable was the system's searching capabilities that demonstrated a clear strength in its ability to give users the tools they need to find information.”
In addition to a month-long client specification documentation process and the detailed product comparison, ISITE conducted extensive research about each of the companies being evaluated to ensure that they could confidently recommend a company that was here to stay and they could partner with to fulfill the client's need. They researched the companies' histories from foundation to present time, evaluated financials and spoke with each company at length about their corporate and product direction. “The clear recommendation was EOS. The end result is that we can confidently recommend EOS to our clients and look forward to growing our relationship with them in the future,” added George Ross.
