Abstract: My Community International and MuseGlobal Inc announce the signing of Agreements formalizing an alliance and product integration which will bring a powerful online resource to libraries and their users.

My Community International. (Provo, Utah) and MuseGlobal Inc. (Santa Fe, New Mexico) announce today the signing of Agreements formalizing an alliance and product integration which will bring a powerful online resource to libraries and their users.

My Community International, a newcomer to the US market from Australia, produces a unique software product specifically for libraries, cities, and counties. My Community allows these organizations to manage and maintain a sophisticated web presence, focusing on community resources and local services, without any technical skills. The product automates the management of content within the site eliminating the problems associated with conventional web site publishing technology.

President of My Community, David Malpas says, “None of the library automation vendors have ever taken community resources seriously. Nor have they done anything to assist librarians to develop a “drama free” web site which integrates with their catalog. We have spent the past 5 years doing exactly that. And, of course, people today want more information and they want it mostly about their own community. My Community allows libraries to provide a sophisticated service without the drama normally associated with publishing and maintaining a web site. And the really nice thing about My Community is its interactivity with the public. The public is invited to submit information an be part of My Community, in a secure manner, of course.

MuseGlobal produces Muse, a multi-protocol intelligent search environment, which allows the web site visitor to simultaneously search multiple resources, whether they are web, HTTP, Z39.50, SQL and other protocols or those which require ‘one-off' mapping. Library visitors can search the My Community site, the web, the local library's catalog, and any subscription databases the library may have. MuseGlobal executives have a long and successful history serving library communities in North America and worldwide.

President and Chief Executive of MuseGlobal, Kate Noerr, says “The integration of Muse with My community makes the combined product one of the most powerful and useful online services available today. Never before has so much information been made so easily accessible to the general public. We see an enormous future in the provision of information to the community and in offering easy public access to library catalogs and the myriad of online services available today. The alliance with My Community is an important step for us in applying Muse to a wide, general use environment.
