Endeavor Opens Australia Office To Meet Growing Needs

Abstract: Endeavor Information Systems announced opening of an Australian Regional Office in Marrickville, NSW, just outside of Sydney.

DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, USA - Oct. 2, 2001: Allowing libraries in Australia and New Zealand to take advantage of local support services for the Voyager integrated library management system, Endeavor Information Systems announces today's opening of an Australian Regional Office in Marrickville, NSW, just outside of Sydney. The Australian office, located at 30-52 Smidmore Street, Marrickville, will also assist the growing number of libraries employing Endeavor's ENCompass, the integrated system for managing, searching and linking the diverse collections of academic and research libraries.

Claire Hill, a native of Brisbane, Australia and most recently with Endeavor's European Regional Office in London, will serve as Australian Support Manager. "I am personally very excited to be returning to Australia to work with our many Voyager libraries in both Australia and New Zealand," Hill stated. "The Voyager libraries are diverse in size and background, but they all have common goals in providing open access to the information in their collections."

Endeavor customers in New Zealand and Australia include the National Library of New Zealand and the Monash University Library, the largest library in the Southern Hemisphere. Over 73 libraries in Australia and New Zealand use the Voyager system.

"Endeavor has made continual strides to fulfill the needs of international customers," stated Jane Burke, Endeavor's President and CEO. "Although located halfway around the world from Endeavor's headquarters in Chicago, the Voyager libraries in New Zealand and Australia play an active role on Endeavor's customer task forces that influence the development process for Endeavor's complete offering of library automation products."

Noting the considerable time difference of its international customers, Endeavor's U.S.-based Customer Support is staffed from 5:00 am to 9:00 p.m. in the U.S. Central time zone, providing live assistance for at least part of the Australia and New Zealand work day. Endeavor also provides a 24-hour customer-secure website with library support information and offers many services to accommodate libraries internationally.
