DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, July 18, 2001: Endeavor Information Systems announced Nadeem Ghias joined the industry-leading library automation company this week as Director of Digital Library Development. In this role, Ghias works with the Endeavor Digital Library Development staff on the requirements, development and enhancements of Endeavor's Digital Library Products.
Ghias is integral in Endeavor's current implementation of Open Linking Technologies for Digital Library Products. He manages progress on the ENCompass digital management, organization and linking tool; the Citation Server electronic database management system; and LinkFinderPlus, a solution for the comprehensive linking of all library items, regardless of information or software vendor.
"I'm excited to join Endeavor," Ghias said. "I want to learn more about the customers and products and follow the Endeavor vision of where the products could go. This way, Endeavor can continue to build the best products on the market."
He looks forward to working with Endeavor's library development partners. "It's great Endeavor works closely with the customers on product development," he said. "There is no way to build a product without strong partners."
"Endeavor is happy to add the development expertise of Nadeem Ghias," said Verne Coppi, Endeavor's Vice President of Development. "As we grow our staff, we set the precedent in the library automation field by recruiting top talent and we honor our commitment to our customers by hiring the staff that can continue to build the best products in the industry."
An Established Development Heritage
Ghias previously was Vice President of Product Development at InstallShield. He was integral in the founding Micronix Inc., where he was CEO, Chief Product Architect and Developer before the company was acquired by BindView Development Corporation. Ghias was BindView Corp.'s Product Architect and Development Team Leader, creating the company's first-generation Windows-based product in the early 90's. He then served as Vice President for Research and Development there, expanding the development team from five members to over 100 in less than three years. Ghias was also the founder of BusinessReviews.com, where he served as CEO and CTO.
Ghias holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI.
Endeavor recognizes changing needs of libraries and anticipates these advances with three distinct Digital Library Products: Citation Server, ENCompass, and LinkFinderPlus.
Citation Server, now empowered with LinkFinder, maximizes access to local and remote citation databases with exclusive "hooks" to local holdings, full text articles and links across databases. ENCompass applies new technology standards like XML, EAD and Dublin Core to organize and access electronic resources. ENCompass provides seamless searching across digital object collections while managing and controlling links for separate repositories. LinkFinderPlus provides comprehensive linking for all of the library's resources, regardless of the software or information vendor. The robust capabilities of LinkFinderPlus are fully incorporated in Endeavor's ENCompass, but are also available as a separate product for libraries that choose to provide linking on a stand-alone platform.
