PROVO, UT. –epixtech, inc., producer of Dynix and Horizon Sunrise library automation systems, announced that they have teamed with Portland, Oregon-based Syndetic Solutions, Inc. to deliver enriched content through iPac, epixtech's web-based online catalog module. Library patrons will view a wealth of content information from Syndetic Solutions by simply clicking on iPac icons. This information includes table of contents, reviews, synopses and annotations, author notes, cover art images, and excerpts as well as fiction and biography headings.
Allan Graham, Director of Business Relations at Syndetic, further explains the many services epixtech customers will be able to provide their patrons. “Syndetics' data elements can easily be added to a library's MARC records or they can be automatically linked to the catalog through our remote access service. Today's library patrons expect more from library catalogs than just the name of a book and its location. Services such as author notes, excerpts and first chapters, professionally written annotations and book reviews are just some of the services savvy library patrons look for and that we help library automation vendors such as epixtech provide. epixtech's iPac product is at the forefront in delivering information quickly. Provided with the enriched content we supply, epixtech customers will be able to deliver even more information to library patrons.
“It's not enough for today's libraries to have access to a wealth of information,” explains Lana Porter, President and CEO of epixtech. “They have to be able to deliver that information in an enriched format. Patrons have so many choices available through the Internet. We just want to make sure our libraries' patrons are making choices based on improved access to all the information they want, and some they hadn't realized they needed.”
