Bloomfield, New Jersey - December 23, 2000 - Openly Informatics, Inc. (http://www.openly.com/) today announced the launch of Link.Openly Server, a web version of its Link.Openly Software implementing the S-Link-S Linking Framework. Link.Openly Server is now available for free, general use on Openly's production servers at link.openly.com

Link.Openly Server combines bibliographic metadata with S-Link-S XML templates to produce hyperlinks. If sufficient bibliographic data is present to compute the link, the user is redirected immediately, if not, the user is prompted for more data. In this way, Link.Openly Server adds intelligence to the network.

Link.Openly Server also accepts bibliographic input as OpenURL GET requests; Link.Openly Server can be used by publishers to build OpenURL interfaces for their resources.

Link.Openly Server can also be used to provide linking maps into an electronic journal. Linking Templates are currently available for PubMed, OpenURL, SwetsNetNavigator, Springer Link, Academic's Idealibrary and a number of other resources.

Publishers interested in making their content linkable can register by email to slinks@openly.com. Link.Openly Server is fully customizable and is available for OEM licensing.

"The availability of the web version of Link.Openly will now make it possible to use S-Link-S templates froma anywhere, to anywhere." said Eric Hellman, President of Openly Informatics. "This a small but necessay piece of the linking infrastructure we all need."
