Security issues and the library Web

Copyright (c) 2000 Information Today

Abstract: From the conference program: There are a number of issues and concerns related to the security of a library Web server. Libraries need to be able to provide content to their users, yet restrict access from others; they need to authenticate users to verify that they are part of the library''s user base. It is also important that libraries secure a Web server against hackers and ensure that all data on the server is backed up in case of a hardware or software failure. This half day workshop presents information on these security issues and offers practical advice and assistance on maintaining a library Web site with adequate security
