Gretchen Herman has worked with every facet of library automation since her career began in Brodart Automation's retrospective conversion department. "Rarely have I seen such raw skills and natural management talent in an individual. Her well-deserved, rapid promotions over the past several years exemplify the adage—the cream always rises to the top," said David Franklin, Vice-President, former General Manager of Automation, and Herman's previous supervisor.
Since her start in the Conversion Department, her promotions included stints in Brodart Automation's Marketing Department as, first, Assistant Marketing Manager, and shortly thereafter, Marketing Manager. In 1999 she was promoted to Operations Manager in the Division. Increasingly, Division personnel gravitated to Herman to tap her knowledge and opinions.
Herman repeatedly proved herself to be a remarkably quick study in both management and technical areas. Her capacity to learn, coupled with her enthusiasm, drive, and exemplary professionalism, personality and character, made her a natural selection for this important position.
"I'm very excited by this opportunity," Herman said. "I was very fortunate to establish my career with Brodart Automation several years ago. The year 2001 is shaping up to being a very exciting year, and I look forward to Managing an excellent staff through the coming year and beyond."
