September 14, 2000 LibraryHQ.com (www.libraryhq.com), the information portal for library professionals, announced the inclusion of its Site Source feature in Sirsi Corporation's new iBistro product. Site Source, an online searchable database of MARC-format cataloged websites, currently contains more than 12,000 records; new sites are being cataloged at a rate of about 2000 per month.

SIRSI's iBistro was designed to help library users personalize web searches and master the broadening information available via the Internet. In addition to accessing Site Source, iBistro users may search the Northern Light research web search, selected Z39.50 library catalogs, and other digital libraries and online databases. iBistro also enables library catalog users to view book reviews, tables of contents, jacket images, synopses, annotations, and author notes. iBistro includes a special personalization package called MyBistro that features individual preference profiles so users can set their own searching and interest preferences, receive customized lists of new titles, review their accounts, place holds, and renew materials.

"Site Source is one of LibraryHQ's most popular features for librarians, and we're very pleased that SIRSI wanted to bring it to a wider audience by including it in iBistro," noted Katharine Garstka, manager of LibraryHQ.com. "We expect Site Source to continue growing and providing a great resource for anyone seeking up-to-date, high-quality Internet resources." Sites included in Site Source are selected and cataloged by a staff of library professionals, ensuring that sites contain useful information and that records are clear and accurate, eliminating the useless clutter that results from typical web searches.

"iBistro is an exciting new concept in library automation, and incorporating LibraryHQ's Site Source into it is a real plus," said Greg Hathorn, SIRSI vice president of Library Products. "Now our library customers and their clients can have easy access to a rapidly growing collection of the world's most useful websites."

LibraryHQ.com was launched in January 2000 as a free web starting point for library and information professionals. In addition to Site Source, LibraryHQ.com contains the News Source, Automation Source, Message Forum, Classified Ads, and many specialized lists of resources on topics such as e-books, filtering, library organization websites, legal issues, and library statistics.
