(Carlsbad, CA - June 24, 1998) Electronic Online Systems (EOS) International is pleased to announce that fifteen libraries have chosen to install the Q Series, EOS International's new client/server-based library information management system, during spring 1998.
All of these libraries will be implementing the Q Series Cataloging, Circulation and OPAC modules during the next several months. Most of them will also be installing the Serials control and Acquisitions modules when they are available. These new customer libraries join more than 25 other libraries who already have installed or are in the process of installing the Q Series system bringing the total number of Q Series users to forty.
What these libraries find particularly appealing about the Q Series is its advanced searching capabilities with automatic synonym searching and pattern searching, which overcomes spelling variations, word endings and misspellings.
Among those libraries making the decision to implement the Q Series were six academic libraries including: Erskine College & Theological Seminary Library, located in Due West, SC; the Ramaker Library & Learning Resource Center of Northwestern College located in Orange City, IA, W. M. Logan Library of Schreiner College located in Kerrville, TX; Northland Pioneer Community College located in Holbrook, AZ; Maner Memorial Library of Cisco Junior College located in Cisco, TX; and the Computer Based Instruction Lab for the Medical College of Virginia Campus of Virginia Commonwealth University which is located in Richmond, VA.
Two law libraries also made the decision to implement the Q Series this spring. Steptoe & Johnson, a national and international law firm in Washington, DC; and the New Mexico Supreme Court Library located in Santa Fe, NM.
Other Q Series customers include the following special libraries: Casey Memorial Library of Ft. Hood, an Army base library located in Fort Hood, TX; the Armed Forces Medical Library, located in Norfolk, VA; the Texas Medical Association of Austin, TX; and American Management Systems, located in Fairfax, Virginia.
The international appeal of the Q Series is illustrated by the recent implementation of a new Q Series system at the British Council in Jakarta, Indonesia. Other new international clients include: Petrotrin, an oil refinery firm located in Trinidad & Tobago, the West Indies; and the United States Information Service (USIS), located in New Delhi, India. In addition to the Q Series system acting as a union catalog, EOS International's GLAS (Graphical Library Automation System) is being installed in 3 branch libraries in other Indian cities.
