Wobum, MA--Inmagic, Inc., leading developer of library automation and information management software today announced the release of BiblioTech PRO version 2.0. Inmagic product lines include both BiblioTech PRO and DB/Text Works, offering companies Internet-, Intranet- and PC-enabled solutions for managing large volumes of text-based or multi-media information.

Fast, scalable and robust, Bibliolech PRO Version 2.0 is a fully integrated library system (ILS) powered by Progress Software's powerful Version 9.0 RDBMS database that can operate in a Windows NT, UNIX, LINUX or AS400 environment.

BiblioTech PRO offers special librarians and information management professionals the standard features required of a premiere ILS, with the flexibility and reach to support information management needs beyond the corporate library.

Product Features

BiblioTech PRO 2.0 uses Progress Version 9.0, a 32-bit desktop for the Windows interface, and Progress WebSpeed version 3.0, providing advanced Browser support for the web-searching interface.

Standard modules include cataloging and record update, indexing and searching across one or more indices, and an ANSI-standard thesaurus.

Optional modules include procurement and accounting, integrated serials management and circulation management.

Available utilities include data conversion and downloading interfaces, security control at the document level, batch uploading options, e-commerce and Intranet/Intemet access using any browser.

With this release of BiblioTech PRO for version 9 of Progress, customers will immediately be able to take advantage of Microsoft Windows options such as resizing screens, columns in browser display, and setting their own colors and type fonts.

Several modules have been updated to present the application modules with a tabbed folders method for accessing different functions.

New data structures eliminate the need for data reloads if the data dictionary is changed, opening the option of substantial additions to functions and features in the future with limited technical impact as the new releases are sent to customers.

BibSpeed, the web interface for seaxching presents the user with three substantial additions:

  • The ability to construct and maintain a personal bibliography on-line. This can be added to, subtracted from and perpetually maintained.
  • The ability to save personal seaith strategies that can be recalled at anytime. This means that searches involving complex Boolean combinations or hard-to-spell terms such as chemical names can be recalled for repeat execution.
  • A New Acquisitions Bulletin option lets the User see the latest materials indexed or cataloged, current to the minute with one click. The bulletin lets the user browse back and forth to see each previous month.
