Provo, Utah. Lana Porter, President and CEO of epixtech, inc., the Provo, Utah-based library automation firm, has been elected to serve a three-year term as a Trustee of the University of Detroit Mercy, which is located in Detroit, Michigan. She has been assigned to serve on the Academic Affairs Committee.
The University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) is a Catholic university in the Jesuit and Mercy traditions and, as such, is committed to quality education, service of faith, promotion of justice, and compassionate service to persons in need. UDM is committed to providing excellent student-centered undergraduate and graduate education in an urban context. The University of Detroit was founded in 1877 by the Jesuits, and Mercy College was founded in 1941 by the Sisters of Mercy. In 1990 these two institutions partnered to create the University of Detroit Mercy. UDM currently has 6,300 students that attend three campuses in the Detroit area.

Ms. Porter is President/CEO and member of the Board of epixtech, the world's largest provider of software for libraries. Prior to this, she was with Ameritech, the regional Bell Telephone Company, for 23 years, where she was President/CEO of Ameritech Library Services for three years prior to joining epixtech.
Ms. Porter also serves on the Board of Trustees of Leadership America, is the Development Committee Chair for the Board of Friends of Libraries U.S.A.; the Advisory Boards of Kent State University and Florida State University School of Information Studies; and the Business Advisory Board of the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois. She holds a bachelor's degree in English and History, as well as a master's degree in English from Murray State University and a master's degree in Business Administration from the Ohio State University.
