Abstract: Pigasus Software, Inc. announces support of communication between its Wings ILL systems and Infotrieve. Now library patrons can send requests directly to Infotrieve.


ST. CHARLES, MO - Pigasus Software, Inc. announces support of communication between its Wings ILL systems and Infotrieve. Now library patrons can send requests directly to Infotrieve.

Pigasus Software has built a special version of the WingsTM system called WingsTM Custom for Infotrieve, which is designed for Infotrieve customers only and is available at a special price. The ability to communicate directly with Infotrieve is also included in all existing Wings Request Management products.

The Wings Request Management System is a web-based ILL request processing package that facilitates the communication of document delivery and ILL requests and related messages between users and libraries, and between libraries and other libraries or document suppliers. The WingsTM system supports a variety of communications protocols used in the ILL community, including ISO 10160/10161 and ERP (the Extended Request Protocol). In addition, the WingsTM system can communicate with proprietary systems such as Infotrieve, DOCLINE and OCLC.

Infotrieve is a library services company offering full-service document delivery, databases on the web, and a variety of tools to simplify the process of identifying, retrieving, and paying for published literature. Infotrieve's mission is to facilitate efficient, affordable, and innovative methods of distributing published materials to libraries and end users, while protecting the rights of the information producer.

Infotrieve offers the option of unmediated ordering. Orders may be automatically checked against a library's own holdings (paper, electronic, or both) using Infotrieve's automated reference system. Orders placed by a patron which match the library's holdings can be returned promptly via email to the requester or to a default email address, or may be posted to a web page accessible by the library staff. Orders which do not match the holdings will immediately be referred to Infotrieve's document delivery service for fulfillment. A holdings list that includes titles and ISSN numbers will be required for this service.
