MELBOURNE knowledge management software company Design & Data Solutions has appointed a well-known industry identity to head its call centre in a move expected to meet the demands of their fastest-growing customer base — Victoria's education market.

Ms Jane Viner is currently vice president of the School Libraries Association of Victoria. She was recently joint state chairperson of the International Baccalaureate Australasian Information Resource Network, and a library committee member for the Association of Independent Schools of Victoria.

With 20 years of hands-on experience as a teacher-librarian, including the last four years as faculty head of information resources for three libraries, Ms Viner will provide support to the increasing number of schools using the innovative and acclaimed Concord Australia knowledge management software suite AIMS and MASTERfile.

"My primary role is to help customers maximise the benefits of their system," Ms Viner said. "It's about making sure schools are aware of everything our system is capable of doing and assisting users to make it all happen."

Ms Viner said the company has been experiencing an overwhelming demand from Victoria's education market for the browser-based knowledge management system MASTERfile. The system can find all of a school's information resources - physical and virtual - with one single search.

"Just as big companies have recognised the need for knowledge management using paperless systems, education is steadily adopting the same approach," she said. "Schools are quickly realising the benefits of using technology to help staff and students enhance the quality of teaching and learning."

Ms Viner will be visiting clients over the next few months to provide individual assistance and support. She will help schools with a variety of issues including software operation, software features, computer configuration, network ‘tuning', automated back-ups and local reports.

She also recently completed her Masters of Information Management & Systems from Monash University.

Established last year with just a handful of sites and a team of two, D&D is now the number one player in the schools market for browser-based knowledge management systems.

D&D is a Value-Added Reseller for MASTERfile, an innovative knowledge management solution.
