McHenry, Illinois -- October 18, 1993 -- Follett Software Company announces its plans to release a new version of its textbook distribution and management software, Textbook Plus The new release of Textbook Plus will operate under Follett's new Unison software platform, a design which allows for all of its products to be completely modular, as well as integrate with other products as they are installed.

Textbook Plus is a circulation and inventory control software program designed specifically for the management of textbooks and curriculum materials within the school environment. It utilizes barcodes and barcode readers to speed circulation, reduce inventory loss, and aid in the acquisition of textbooks, while also generating many reports, lists, bills and notices utilized in textbook distribution and management.

Under the Unison design, Textbook Plus is completely modular, operating as a stand-alone unit for those schools interested in automating only their textbook management function. It can also provide full integration capabilities by sharing a common patron database with Follett's Circulation Plus library management software, for schools with automated libraries or future automation plans. And with Follett's PHD+ or new PHD+ II handheld barcode scanning device, Textbook Plus performs remote circulation and inventory.
