DUBLIN, Ohio, March 17, 1998 - Information Dimensions, Inc., a leading provider of web-enabled knowledge center solutions, has promoted Scott Scharadin to the position of vice president of marketing.
Scharadin most recently served as director of marketing for the company. Information Dimensions develops and markets BASIS, one of the most widely used document management systems. He joined IDI in 1996.
"Scott has been highly influential in a number of areas, especially in shaping product and business direction to take advantage of shifting market trends in web-based digital library software," says William Forquer, IDI president. "His keen insight into this dynamic marketplace, and new ideas for growth, has been recognized repeatedly by his colleagues throughout Information Dimensions, and by the executive team at our parent company, Gores Technology Group."
In his new role, Scharadin will direct worldwide marketing programs for the company, and work to further position the Dublin-based organization for the growing knowledge management market by delivering secure document management and library solutions for intranets.
BASIS, originally developed at Battelle Memorial Laboratory, addresses large and complex document management problems for organizations with document repositories that are mission critical to their business. BASIS is a robust document management solution for a variety of knowledge-based applications. BASIS features high performance search and retrieval, security, control and integrity to ensure document availability across client/server and web applications.
BASIS, according to industry analyst IDC, is the world's most used document management system.
Before joining IDI, Scharadin was marketing manager at CompuServe, Inc. There, he managed 15 business partnerships and negotiated content acquisition with numerous vendors for the giant online service. Prior to his relationship with CompuServe, he was director of marketing at Legent Corporation in Columbus, where he led the marketing and development program of a multimedia authoring system for OS/2 and Windows.
Scharadin also has held senior marketing, product management and advertising management positions at DataEase International, Thomson Software and D&B Computing Services.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of Northern Colorado, and an MBA in marketing from the University of Connecticut.
