March 18. Innovative Interfaces, the leader in library software automation, and the Innovative Users Group (IUG) announced that the seventh annual IUG meeting will take place April 24-27, 1999, in Oakland, California. With over 1,000 Innovative partners from all types of libraries in attendance, the conference will be the largest in the group's history.
Organized by IUG, the four-day event includes a one-day pre-conference for new users. Over 120 sessions are held throughout the conference, ranging from topics of general interest to specialized presentations. Programs are prepared by individuals from partner libraries and members of the Innovative staff. During the opening general session Innovative will include a summary of the many new products and enhancements to the company's Millennium system.
According to Bob Walton, Innovative's CFO, "The IUG conference is the largest gathering of library automation users in our industry. Sharing information about our technology and getting feedback from our partner libraries have always been a key to Innovative's continued success. As one attendee put it last year, 'I can't think of any other situation where the customer and the supplier work together so closely, long after the contract was signed'."
Fred Gertler, Chair of the IUG, agrees. "This conference is an incredible opportunity for the members of the IUG to share information among themselves, and also to continue to reaffirm relationships with the people at Innovative - from senior management, to implementation specialists, to help desk personnel."
