Abstract: EOS International is pleased to announce that 53 libraries have chosen to install the Q Series, EOS International''s library information management system, during 1999.

(Carlsbad, CA - January 27, 2000) - Electronic Online Systems (EOS) International is pleased to announce that 53 libraries have chosen to install the Q Series TM, EOS International's next generation, client/server-based library information management system, during 1999.

The majority of these libraries has implemented, or is in the process of implementing, the full Q Series system including the Cataloging, Circulation, Serials, Acquisitions, OPAC and/or Q @ccess Web OPAC modules. These new customer libraries join over 50 other libraries that have already installed the Q Series system bringing the total number of Q Series users to 106 worldwide.

What these and other libraries find particularly attractive is Q Series' advanced searching capabilities and its ability to integrate information seamlessly from both traditional and electronic sources.

Among the public libraries making the decision to implement the Q Series is the Mid-Mississippi Regional Library System, a public library system encompassing the Attala, Holmes, Leake, Montgomery, and Winston Counties of Mississippi, USA.

Academic libraries who chose the Q Series system include: Newbold College, located in Bracknell, UK; New Bulgarian University and Technical University, both located in Sofia, Bulgaria; the Sunraysia Institute of TAFE, located in Victoria, Australia, and Etisalat College of Engineering which is located in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

Other new Q Series customers include the following special libraries: Encyclopaedia Britannica, located in Chicago IL; Missouri Department of Transportation in Jefferson City, MO; Westinghouse Electric Corporation, located in Monroeville, PA; American Dental Association located in Chicago, IL; American Family Insurance in Madison, WI; Capital One, Inc. located in Richmond, VA; seven libraries of the Air Force Space Command throughout the USA, the Australian Geological Survey Organisation in Canberra, Australia, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and Ferrovie dello Stato of Rome, Italy.

The Q Series is a full-featured library information management system providing sophisticated information retrieval with advanced searching options that overcome the limitations of Boolean searching. Q Series does this by providing additional tools, such as natural language querying, "hypersearching," concept searching, and pattern matching. Through these tools and other features, the Q Series provides a single point of access to the world of information. This world can include a library's own collection, a branch library's collection, multimedia files, CD-ROMs, URL links, and commercially or internally published documents found on the Internet, Intranets and Extranets. The Q Series was nominated for the Computerworld Smithsonian Award for its innovative use of information technology and its ability to make information more manageable and accessible to users.

EOS International is a global library information management software and service company and a Microsoft Certified Solution Provider. In addition to the Q Series, it produces a number of library products including GLAS (Graphical Library Automation System), a comprehensive, Windows-based system for small to medium-sized libraries.

EOS International's corporate headquarters is located in Carlsbad, California, USA. It has regional offices in London, Paris, and Singapore as well as over 25 other offices and support centers worldwide. EOS International serves over 5,000 clients in 85 countries, in all types of libraries.
