The Brandeis University libraries contain over one million volumes and offer access to a wealth of electronic resources. Today Brandeis announced a plan to enhance the research capabilities of its libraries by installing ALEPH500 as its next-generation library automation system. Brandeis University`s ALEPH system will support 100 concurrent users on a Sun Enterprise 450 hardware platform and will involve a full data conversion from the DRA Classic system. The ALEPH system is scheduled to go live in the summer of 2000.

Bessie K. Hahn, university librarian, said "As we looked to the future, we knew that our libraries needed a system that would serve as a building block for our future plans--a system that offered rich functionality and superior multilingual support. We found those capabilities in the ALEPH system from Ex Libris."

We are excited to have Brandeis as part of our rapidly growing, prestigious customer base. Together, our customers will collaborate with us on the best ways to meet the challenges of the future."

The system marketed by Ex Libris, called ALEPH, is now installed in over 500 sites with more than 17,000 concurrent users in 41 countries. Ex Libris is a multinational company with offices located around the world.
