PROVO, Utah. epixtech, inc., formerly Ameritech Library Services, today announced an agreement with EBSCO Publishing, a fully integrated information services provider, to market the Web version of NoveList, an online readers' advisory service.
"EBSCO has a reputation for delivering superior products and being a staunch supporter of libraries, which is why we are pleased to be able to offer NoveList to our libraries," said Lana Porter, president and chief executive officer of epixtech. "In the past, libraries have provided a readers' advisory service via word of mouth, printed bibliographies and locally maintained databases. NoveList has modernized this concept by providing an easy-to-use Web interface to deliver extensive search capabilities and provide more options for readers. The link to local holdings for Dynix libraries via the Z39.50 client will allow patrons to determine if their library has the item in which they are interested."
Novelist was first released in 1994 and is now licensed in one out of every five public libraries in the United States. Novelist helps readers find new books based on books they've read or topics in which they are interested. NoveList supports searching via 17,000 subject headings and provides subject and keyword access to over 86,000 fiction titles for adults, young adults and children. "Library Journal's recent review of NoveList described the product as Ďa reader's paradise and a reference librarian's dream,'" said Tim Collins, EBSCO Publishing Division general manager. "We are very excited about working with one of the world's leading integrated library system companies to bring NoveList to even more libraries and the readers they serve."
EBSCO Publishing is part of the EBSCO Information Services group. EBSCO Information Services provides fully integrated serials access and delivery solutions worldwide through subscription management, reference database development and production, and online multi-database access. The EBSCO Information Services group consists of EBSCO Subscription Services and EBSCO Publishing.
