SALT LAKE CITY, UT, April 8, 1999 COMPanion Corporation announced today that Alexandria, COMPanion's school library automation system, is to be installed in the 93 schools that make up the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD).

SAISD recently completed an aggressive library automation comparison between top vendors chosen from the states' library automation page, including Alexandria, Athena, Follett and Winnebago. Based upon technical requirements, including the requirement for 32-bit architecture, Alexandria, Winnebago and Follett were invited to present. The district is currently automated on a Follett DOS-based system and desired to upgrade its system to current technology. Alexandria was chosen for its 32-bit technology, ease-of-use and Y2K solution.

San Antonio started its search for a new automation system in September 1998 with a final selection deadline of March 29, 1999.
