WOBURN, Mass. -- Inmagic, Inc., a leading developer of textbase technology for Internet/intranet publishing, announced today a joint agreement with TMSSequoia(tm) (NASDAQ Bulletin Board: TMSS), a leader in services and products for document imaging, forms processing and CD-ROM publishing. Under the agreement, Inmagic will market TMSSequoia's ViewDirectorPro2 Imaging Plug-in and ViewDirector ActiveX Control to Inmagic's Internet/intranet customers worldwide. Inmagic's direct sales force and members of its Channels Partner Program -- the company's worldwide network of value-added resellers, systems integrators, and Web content developers -- will provide clients with a high performance intranet solution. This solution includes Inmagic's DB/Text(r) WebPublisher text database management system for Internet/intranet publishing and information retrieval and the advanced imaging plug-ins from TMSSequoia. TMSSequoia will also market Inmagic's DB/TextWorks(tm) and DB/Text WebPublisher software to its imaging clientele.
The Inmagic-TMSSequoia joint solution is ideal for industries such as law, engineering, and finance that need to manage large volumes of documents and multi-page images on their corporate intranets. Inmagic reseller Al Battle of Applied Images said, "We have clients right now who are looking to implement applications with DB/Text WebPublisher, but also want to be able to integrate image viewing and management. We are excited about the Inmagic-TMSSequoia partnership, and see many potential sales for this unique combination of Inmagic's textbase products and TMSSequoia's imaging plug-ins."
Inmagic's DB/Text WebPublisher is the industry's most comprehensive Windows NT(tm)-based Web publishing and information retrieval solution, designed to help businesses organize, publish, retrieve, and manage information on the World Wide Web and corporate intranets. Its one-of-a-kind architecture combines rapid and precise field-based text retrieval, on-the-fly data formatting, and batch data management features. Key applications include directory and product catalog publishing on the Internet, as well as corporate intranet publishing for efficient dissemination of HR policies, market research reports, competitive intelligence and more.
"As our customer base begins looking toward intranets, it is clear that Inmagic's agreement with TMSSequoia is a perfect marriage," said Phillip Green, Inmagic's president and CEO. "Our proven textbase technology, together with TMSSequoia's advancements in imaging, give our clients what they expect from intranets: quick and precise search and retrieval of documents, plus comprehensive image management.
TMSSequoia offers two products for viewing and managing images on corporate intranets, the Internet, or LAN/WANs. The ViewDirectorPro2 Imaging Plug-in provides image viewing and printing for Internet/intranet browsers including Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0. It is loaded with features such as magnifiers, rotation, annotations, scale to gray and more, for fast display of industry standard color or black and white images (TIFF, JPEG, etc.). With the ViewDirector ActiveX Control, users can integrate the same powerful image viewing technology into their own applications, including those developed with DB/Text WebPublisher. TMSSequoia has packaged two versions of the ActiveX Control product to support both Web development and standard application development. ViewDirectorPro2 and Pro2+ are available for Windows 95, NT and 3.1; ViewDirector ActiveX Control is available for Windows 95 and NT.
TMSSequoia's CEO Maxwell Steinhardt commented, "TMSSequoia is very pleased to be able to partner with Inmagic. Inmagic's technology is recognized as a worldwide leader, and is ideally suited to take full advantage of the imaging capabilities TMSSequoia brings to the partnership. We see a wide range of new possibilities for our companies as we work together in the intranet/Internet arena, using the technology with our Document Conversion Services line of business, over networks, and over the Internet."
