Philadelphia, January 28, 1998: LiveNote, Inc. and Inmagic, Inc. have entered an agreement to jointly develop a link between the company's two litigation applications. The link will allow users to import LiveNote deposition digests into DB/TextWorks and interact between the two applications. Additionally, Inmagic will resell LiveNote products, offering LiveNote's state-of-the-art deposition management capabilities, including real time web feeds, to its large installed base of litigation support clientele.
"The LiveNote-Inmagic agreement establishes a ‘best of breed' choice for combined document control and deposition management," said Phil Green, president and CEO of Inmagic, Inc. "Our customers expect top-notch technology every step of the way. With this link, they can tap the best tool for each task."
LiveNote is an intuitive transcript management tool, which can import ASCII files or, connect in realtime with the court reporter's stenography machine. The software allows users to categorize salient passages as soon as testimony is given. Marked passages can be associated with issues, or left as "quick marked" text. The user can elect to attach files and/or add notes and create a variety of reports from them. LiveNote users can see testimony streaming onto a laptop as transcription is taking place. During the course of the deposition, the attorney can back up to an earlier line of questioning to see if a question was asked and answered, or how it was asked and answered. The instant an important question is answered, that point in the testimony can be marked without loss of focus from the proceedings by simply hitting the space bar. Quick marks can be further defined with issue codes and annotations, effectively summarizing the deposition in realtime.
Inmagic's DB/TextWorks is leading litigation support software that combines full text information, fielded data, and integrated imaging with annotation capabilities. The product's sophisticated architecture provides instantaneous search speeds, superior indexing, and report writing. DB/Text Works is available in both 16-bit and true 32-bit Windows NT versions. DB/TextWorks is now able to load LiveNote annotations into the database. Once in the system, testimony can be viewed in tandem with the remainder of the case evidence contained in the laptop. Thus, at a break, the attorney can quickly jump to marked testimony, see how it meshes with documents and other depositions in the case, and assess whether to clean up, lock in, or leave alone answers before the witness is excused from the deposition.
Inmagic will offer existing users of its DiscoveryMagic suite an opportunity to upgrade to the LiveNote-Inmagic solution at a special rate. Contact Inmagic for further details.
