McHENRY, IL - September 2, 1997 - Follett Software Company, in conjunction with the American Association of School Librarians (AASL), announced Lynzie Boudreaux, Library Media Specialist at Jennings High School (JHS), Jennings, LA, as winner of the 1997 "Microcomputer Technology in the Media Center Award." Co-sponsored by Follett Software and AASL (a division of the American Library Association), the award is designed to recognize and honor a school library media specialist who has demonstrated leadership and vision in the innovative use of microcomputer technology to improve the teaching and learning process.
Boudreaux was instrumental in helping establish a multimedia computer center that enables JHS students to integrate the use of traditional and computer technology-generated library research tools. The JHS library now offers services parallel to those in area universities. It provides students the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills, research skills, information management skills, and an understanding of the diversity of information resources through the use of research strategies, software, and automated information resources. JHS serves almost 700 students.
