Scott Wheelhouse named Vice President of Product Management

PROVO, Utah; January 28, 1999. Ameritech Library Services (ALS) is pleased to announce that Scott Wheelhouse was recently promoted to vice president of product management. Wheelhouse will lead efforts to develop effective product plans, enchance marketing strategies and further improve communications with clients.

"Scott understands this industry and the needs of our customers," said Lana Porter, president of Ameritech Library Services. "He has been an employee of Ameritech Library Services since 1987, and his broad company background and track record of sound business judgment make him a strong addition to our executive team. Under his leadership, ALS will continue to offer products that libraries need to serve their patrons today and in the future."

"The rapid changes in technology necessitate a balanced approach to product management and development," said Wheelhouse. "While we embrace and integrate the latest technologies into our products, we also must provide a clear migration path for libraries to get from the present to the future. I look forward to working with our customers and employees to develop and deliver products, such as our ConnectLib products that allow libraries to leverage their investment in existing equipment while introducing new technology."

Wheelhouse will focus on four areas, which include:

  • working toward closer coordination of ALS products in the global marketplace;
  • listening and following through on customer input through user groups, joint application
  • development, customer information and the timely delivery of products;
  • improving the value, content, and delivery of ALS service and support offerings by reviewing current products and processes; and
  • using the Internet to strengthen communications through the delivery of more effective and timely ALS product and service information.
During his 11 years with ALS, Wheelhouse has held various positions, including managing director of Retro Link, hardware product manager and director of product management. He has a bachelor's degree in information systems and will complete a master's degree in business administration from Brigham Young University, where his studies emphasize the importance of customer service, employee passion, product leadership and financial discipline in business success.
