HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Oct. 8, 1999) School districts throughout the United States continue to select Sirsi Corporation's Unicorn Library Management System to provide their libraries with a powerful, easy-to-use information system. In the past few months, eight school districts have chosen SIRSI, including the Fremont Unified School District in Fremont, Calif.; the Kalamazoo Public Schools in Kalamazoo, Mich.; the Lake Oswego School District in Lake Oswego, Ore.; the Missoula County Public Schools in Missoula, Mont.; the Moorhead Area Public School District in Moorhead, Minn.; the Seguin Independent School District in Seguin, Texas; the Shasta Union High School District in Redding, Calif.; and the Weld County School District #6 in Greeley, Colo.
They join a large number of prominent school districts already using the SIRSI system, including the Greater Albany Public School District 8J in Albany, Ore.; the Henrico County Public Schools in Henrico, Va.; the Moreland School District in San Jose, Calif; and the Wichita Public Schools in Wichita, Kan.
All the school districts will use SIRSI's UnicornECOLE system, which is especially designed for school libraries and includes the student-friendly WebCat® Online Public Access Catalog to provide online access and WorkFlows™ to streamline administrative tasks for school library staff and volunteers.
Located in Alameda County, Calif., Fremont Unified School District comprises five high schools, one junior high school, ten elementary schools, and a charter school.
Located in Redding, Calif., Shasta Union High School District serves approximately 5,200 students in five high schools, four of which are California Digital High School grant recipients.
Located just south of downtown Portland, Ore., Lake Oswego School District includes two high schools, two junior high schools and nine elementary schools.
Winner of a $447,000 1998-1999 Federal Technology Literacy Challenge Grant, Kalamazoo Public Schools serves more than 12,000 students in two high schools, three middle schools and 18 elementary schools.
The Missoula County Public Schools District facilities include 12 elementary, four middle and four high schools, as well as an Adult Learning Center.
The Moorhead Area Public School District, which covers 216 square miles along Minnesota's Red River, serves approximately 5,800 students in five elementary schools, one junior high school and one high school.
Seguin Independent School District includes three high schools, two middle schools, one sixth grade campus, seven K-5 schools, and one pre-elementary school.
Located 50 miles north of Denver, Weld County School District #6 serves the educational needs of approximately 14,500 students at 31 sites in Greeley, Colo.
