Huntsville, Ala. (July 1, 1999) - ) Sirsi Corporation sales results for its last sales year, ending June 30, 1999, show another record increase in the number of new sales, the company announced today. During the prior 12 months, more than 140 libraries have selected SIRSI systems in North America alone, including the libraries at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla.; Montgomery County Department of Public Libraries in Rockville, Md.; Sun Microsystems, Inc., in Palo Alto, Calif.; the Round Rock Independent School District in Austin, Texas; the Bank of Canada in Ottawa, Ontario; and the Congressional Budget Office in Washington, D.C.

Charles Farley, SIRSI's director of Sales and Marketing, reported that total sales revenue for fiscal year 1999 increased approximately 70 percent over last year. "Over the past few years, we have established a trend of aggressive sales increases over the previous years. We expect to bring even more libraries into the SIRSI family during the next year and well into the next millennium," he commented.

SIRSI executives account for the company's continuing strong sales showing in libraries of all sizes and types worldwide to SIRSI's advanced WebCat , WorkFlowsTM and Hyperion products, as well as its recently reorganized Unicare total service and support group. Farley also indicated that the bulk of these new sales have come from libraries with older PC or mainframe-based systems that have now been supplanted by the newer, full-feature client/server and network technology provided by SIRSI.

"Libraries are tired of waiting for next-generation client/server technology from their current system suppliers. They want and need easy, powerful Internet access and the productivity enhancements of library-specific workflow design now. Only SIRSI can provide these today," Farley stated.

SIRSI, the leader in library technology, is a privately held company founded in 1979, with headquarters in Huntsville, Ala. SIRSI uses the most advanced technology available to provide easy-to-use information systems for libraries, businesses and archives. With offices in major U.S. cities and subsidiaries in Australia, Canada, Latin America, the Peoples Republic of China and the United Kingdom, the company has established its Unicorn products as the leading client-server library information systems in the world.
