(Phoenix, Ariz., November 2, 1998) - Microtest Inc. (NASDAQ: MTST) today introduced DiscPortVT-28, a high-capacity addition to its DiscPortVT line of DVD/CD-ROM sharing thin servers. The latest innovation in Microtest's continuing effort to provide flexible DVD/CD-ROM networking solutions, DiscPortVT-28 contains an internal caching capacity equivalent to two 14-bay CD-ROM towers for a fraction of the cost.

DiscPortVT's are easy-to-install, platform-independent thin servers that come with internal magnetic drives for caching DVD and CD-ROM images, and all the software needed to create those images. With this latest version, DiscPortVT thin servers now are available in 7, 14 or 28-CD models.

All three versions of the DiscPortVT were built on Microtest's DiscZerver™ technology, which provides 10/100 Mbps compatibility, web browser-based management and access to DVD/CD-ROM content, client and server independence, and enhanced multiple-user performance and speed. DiscPortVT also allows the connection of up to seven SCSI devices in combinations tailored to user need.

"DiscPortVT's technology will support an amazing amount of power for an incredibly low price," said Sue Gallego, Director of Product Marketing at Microtest. "With the new 28-CD version, we offer our customers even greater versatility and performance."

The DiscPortVT-28 lists for $2,995 (US) and is available from Microtest's web site at and from Microtest's worldwide network of authorized distributors and resellers. Product information is available at
