Evanston, IL -- April 24, 1995 -- Ameritech Library Services, the leading provider of library automation and information systems, today announced that its Internet publishing tool, NetPublisher, has been rated as "Editor's Choice" for web servers by PC Magazine. A beta copy of NetPublisher was submitted to PC Magazine's technical analysts for a special Internet feature and web server comparison test, published in the May 16, 1995 issue.

PC Magazine, with a circulation of over one million PC users, conducts category-wide reviews using some of the most extensive laboratory testing in the industry. The "Editor's Choice" award is given to the top product(s) in each category - the editor's indication of products they think are outstanding.

"The 'Editor's Choice' award is a great honor for us, especially coming from such a prestigious publication as PC Magazine," said Tom Quarton, president of Ameritech Library Services. NetPublisher is an excellent product, and we attribute much of its success to the valuable input we have received from our customers."

NetPublisher is a World Wide Web, Gopher and Z39.50 server that enables libraries to catalog and organize resources for all types of information, including text, image, audio, video and multimedia. The software package features Windows-based point-and-click cataloging for information such as archived photo, music and slide collections, recorded speeches, library floor layout information, course reserves, school course catalogs and campus directories.

The PC Magazine article said that NetPublisher is the best solution for publishing on the Internet. "If you've been looking for a superior product to manage your World Wide Web content, Ameritech Library Services' NetPublisher, Version 1.0, is second to none," The article made similar comments throughout and included a detailed report on the specific functions and overall performance of NetPublisher.

Some of the features praised in the review included the image map for building clickable graphics or hot spots, support for full transaction logging, consistent use of drag and drop, Jughead searching capabilities and the HTML template wizard. PC Magazine also mentioned that "installation is easy" and "the included tutorials and documentation should help you figure out things easily."
