Abstract: The American Museum of Natural History Library signs agreement to purchase Voyager from Endeavor Information Systems.

ROSEMONT, Illinois -- February 16, 1995. ...Endeavor Information Systems Inc., announced today that it has signed an agreement with the American Museum of Natural History Library (AMNH), New York City, for the purchase and installation of Voyager, Endeavor's information management system. The agreement includes the following Voyager library modules: Cataloging/Authority Control, OPAC with imaging, Acquisitions, and Serials.

The American Museum of Natural History is a non-profit research institution chartered as a Museum and Library by the State of New York in 1869. Since that time the library has grown into one of the world's great natural history collections, containing over 440,000 volumes of monographs, serials, pamphlets and reprints, microforms, and original illustrations, as well as film, photographic, archive, and rare book and manuscript collections.

According to Ms. Miriam Tam, Assistant Director for Technical Services, "The library has spent the past six months looking at library automation systems. We soon realized that Endeavor's Voyager has a unique client/server open system architecture that came closest to fitting our requirements. The Windows-based graphical interface is especially important to us. We are very excited about moving from a character-based system into an OPAC with imaging capabilities. We plan to take full advantage of Voyager's multi-media capabilities. We were pleased with the professional manner with which our questions were answered during the bid process and look forward to working with Endeavor's friendly and helpful staff."

Mr. Patrick Franklin, Endeavor's Chief Operating Officer, is pleased to see the fifth Voyager sale since July. "The American Museum of Natural History Library has chosen Endeavor's vision of electronic information management delivered today by the Voyager product line. We believe the academic and research community is embracing Endeavor's total systems solution as evidenced by recent sales to Rider University and Michigan Technological University."

Endeavor Information Systems is an employee-owned information technology company formed in September, 1994, to deliver client/server text and image management solutions to the academic and research library marketplace. Its principals combine over five decades of library automation experience. Endeavor's corporate headquarters are located at 9700 West Higgins Road, Rosemont, Illinois 60018.

Endeavor Information Systems is now supporting Voyager 2.0, a new release presently being installed at customer sites on three continents. This version supports expanded authority control functionality and second-generation Windows clients for staff and patrons. Endeavor Information Systems will introduce its first major new release, Voyager Version 3.0, in mid-1995.
