Abstract: Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ signs agreement to purchase Voyager from Endeavor Information Services. Dr. Ross Stephen is Director of Libraries.

ROSEMONT, Illinois-- February 16, 1995. ...Endeavor Information Systems Inc., announced today that it has signed an agreement with Rider University, Lawrenceville, NJ, for the purchase and installation of Voyager, Endeavor's information management system. The agreement includes all of the Voyager library modules: Cataloging/Authority Control, Circulation/Reserve, OPAC, Acquisitions, and Serials. Voyager will replace Rider University's older, current system.

Rider University is using an allotment of funds from the New Jersey State Leasing Fund to purchase the Voyager system. Created by bond issues to finance the purchase of new technology by institutions of higher education in the state, this fund has been available to 2- and 4-year institutions in the state of New Jersey.

According to Dr. Ross Stephen; Director of Libraries at Rider University, "We chose Voyager because it is the state-of-the-an client/server system on the market today and will grow with our changing technical environment. The Windows-based graphical interface is very important to us as well as the multiple platforms Voyager will support. Windows is already familiar to most people, and the Voyager interface will be easy to learn as a result."

Mr. Patrick Franklin, Endeavor's Chief Operating Officer, is pleased to see the fourth Voyager sale since July. " Rider University has chosen Endeavor's vision of electronic information management delivered today by the Voyager product line. We believe the academic and research community is embracing Endeavor's solution because of its far-reaching vision of electronic information management, as evidenced by recent Voyager sales to Michigan Technological University and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation."

Endeavor Information Systems is an employee-owned information technology company formed in September, 1994 to deliver client/server text and image management solutions to the academic and research library marketplace. Its principals combine over five decades of library automation experience. Endeavor's corporate headquarters are located at 9700 West Higgins Road, Rosemont, Illinois 60018.

The Voyager product line is a complete library automation system that combines the efficiency and scalability of client/server technology with a graphical interface and advanced image technology. Voyager uses accepted open systems and connectivity standards in a UNIX environment for flexible solutions.

Endeavor Information Systems is now supporting Voyager 2.0, a new release presently being installed at customer sites on three continents. This version supports expanded authority control functionality and second-generation Windows clients for staff and patrons. Endeavor Information Systems will introduce its first major new release, Voyager Version 3.0, in mid-1995.
