About Cathedral Seminary House of Formation

Cathedral Seminary House of Formation is a place where a young man may discern God's call and allow the seeds of his own vocation to grow and develop. Cathedral Seminary House of Formation is for seminarians attending college or those who need the necessary philosophy before entering theological studies. The mission of Cathedral Seminary House of Formation is ultimately the preparation of candidates for ordained priestly ministry in the Roman Catholic Church through spiritual, intellectual, apostolic, and human formation. Undergraduate seminarians live at Cathedral Seminary House of Formation and attend classes at a variety of Colleges and Universities in the New York Metropolitan area. Pre-Theology seminarians are men who have successfully completed an undergraduate degree but find they are in need of philosophy credits before moving on to the major seminary. During a two year course of study and formation these men are able to obtain the necessary prerequisites for theological studies. English As A Second Language seminarians attend an intensive language program at St. John University. Each student is evaluated and admitted into various levels corresponding his ability. Emphasis is given to speaking, reading and writing for academic and scholarly work.
