MONTREAL, Oct. 13, 2015. Learning Bird, an innovative online learning platform for grade 6-12 student success, has announced three key hires to support company growth and expansion plans, according to CEO Henry Ryan. Learn more about the experience and backgrounds of these three new additions to the team:
- Andrea Simmons, Senior Manager of Marketing. With nearly 20 years of experience in marketing, business development and public relations for Montreal-based companies, Simmons joins Learning Bird after serving from 2006 to 2015 as Director of Marketing and Business Development for Integration New Media, Inc. She previously held Marketing Manager positions with Komunik and Silanis Technology, and served as Senior Public Relations Specialist for Matrox. Over the course of her career, she has also provided marketing strategy support to a variety of clients, several of which were in the education sector. Simmons graduated with a degree in Public Relations from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
- Louis Beauregard, Director of Product Management. Prior to joining Learning Bird, Beauregard spent most of his career as a senior UX consultant, contributing to large-scale web projects for companies such as Air Canada, Bell and Desjardins. Most recently, he served as Director of User Experience for JDA Labs in Montreal. In addition to his consulting work, he has been a lecturer, trainer and speaker. Early in his career, he was president and founder of Convivio Interactif Inc. in Montreal. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Cognitive Psychology from Concordia University and his Master's at Université de Montréal.
- Vanessa Chaperlin, Education Content Manager. Chaperlin comes to Learning Bird after spending the past year as an Online English Teacher and Curriculum Developer for E-Joy English, a Chinese language school based in Beijing. She has been an educator around the globe, including having taught at the Port of Spain (capital of Trinidad and Tobago); Kuwait; Guangzhou, China; and in New Brunswick, Canada. She also served as a statistical volunteer for UNESCO. Chaperlin earned her Bachelor's Degree in history and politics from Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Toronto.

Its proprietary learning algorithm matches digital lessons from teachers to the local curriculum, textbooks and personalized recommendations for each student. Learning Bird's new cross-curriculum alignment engine allows students in grades 6-12 to access a wider range of lesson perspectives in order to find that "a-ha" moment of understanding.
