Ipswich, MA -- December 30, 2014. East Baton Rouge Parish Library, an award-winning public library in Louisiana, has chosen EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) from EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) as its discovery solution. The library was impressed with EDS because of its fine-tuned relevance ranking and ability to create a search experience tailored to the needs of its users.

Andrew Tadman, Reference Services and Computer Services Librarian at the library, said that EBSCO Discovery Service will help users gain access to more of the library's extensive print and electronic resources. "We wanted a way to bring together our catalog and digital library to make resources easier to find for our patrons by being able to search both at once rather than choosing one or the other. We have so much great content that we felt our users were missing out on."

Tadman says that EDS's finely-tuned relevance ranking will direct users to this content. "EDS gives quality results, and the relevancy is excellent. This is key with EDS searching so much content. It offers a great search experience and widens the net for pulling in different library resources."

The customization options available in EDS have also been useful to library users. Tadman points specifically to the service's ability to incorporate customized widgets that enhance the discovery experience. "The widget we've been most excited to include is our library chat. While doing research, a patron is just a click away from getting assistance from the staff." This and other innovative features of EDS combine to give the library and its users the ideal discovery solution for their needs. "The technology advancements in EDS gave us the confidence that the discovery service could be effective, give relevant results and be exactly what we needed," says Tadman.

EBSCO Discovery Service creates a unified, customized index of an institution's information resources, and an easy, yet powerful means of accessing all of that content from a single search box-searching made even more powerful because of the quality of its relevance and value ranking technology.
