Monday March 3, 2008. On behalf of the Kuali Foundation Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce that Jennifer Foutty has been named Executive Director of the Kuali Foundation Inc. In this role, Jennifer will lead the Foundation's activities in recruiting new members, coordinating programmatic initiatives, technology development, sharing best practices, and fostering collaboration on behalf of the Kuali community.
The search committee was delighted that the Executive Director position drew a truly outstanding set of candidates who embraced the vision for community source software. The Search Committee saw an excellent fit in Jenniferâ€s broad functional experience with systems for Research Contract and Grant Administration, Finance, Student Services, Purchasing, and HR with the needs of multiple Kuali communities. Her experience in implementing both vended and community source systems will be helpful in her work with Kuali member institutions.
"Jennifer exhibits intense energy and commitment to Kuali. Her balance of technical and functional administrative skills made her the ideal candidate during our national search to successfully lead the Kuali Foundation and its various systems' projects." Joanne DeStefano, Vice President of Financial Affairs, Cornell University and Kuali Foundation Board Member.
"As the search committee embarked on the seemingly impossible task of finding the first Executive Director for the Kuali Foundation, we were challenged to choose among some highly qualified and experienced candidates. Jennifer rose to the top with her direct knowledge and experience of some functional project areas of Kuali (finance and research) and has had experience in working with developers and implementing a student enterprise system. Additionally, her passion for the Kuali initiative, belief in the open source community and understanding of the need to ensure a controlled sustainability model made her our first choice." Charles Ingram, Assistant Vice President, University of Arizona and Kuali Foundation Board Member.
Jennifer has worked at Indiana University for over 20 years with a variety of responsibilities for administrative systems and functional areas. She worked on the project team to implement the Financial Information System, which was the basis for the Kuali Financial System (KFS). As Director for University information Systems in the IT organization, she oversaw the project team comprised of both functional and technical staff at IU for the PeopleSoft project for the Student Systems area. Most recently, as Director of Purchasing Operations, she led a project to analyze the bookstore operations that resulted in the university contracting those services, and oversaw the detailed contractual and financial negotiation with the vendors. Jennifer has key experience in project management, strategic planning, and contracting.
"I am pleased to be joining the Kuali Foundation in the role of Executive Director. Although most colleges and universities recognize that our enterprise systems are vital to our institutional missions, the advent of the community source initiative with Kuali creates new energy and excitement. The work done so far on the systems has already demonstrated value to its partners and I look forward to helping the Kuali Foundation move to the next phase of development and implementation.” Jennifer Foutty, Kuali Executive Director.
Jennifer will be attending the upcoming Kuali Days conference in Chicago, on May 13 â€" 14, where she looks forward to meeting and listening to as many members of the community as possible. Jennifer can be reached via e-mail at email@example.com or by phone at 812-345-3948 .
