DUBLIN, Ohio, March 17, 1994--Rick Noble has been named vice president, reference services at OCLC, effective April 1.
Mr. Noble has been with UMI, Ann Arbor, Mich., since 1990, most recently as vice president of electronic product development and marketing. From 1980 until he joined UMI, he was with Info Globe, the electronic publishing division of Canada's national newspaper, The Globe and Mail.
"Rick is widely known and respected in the information industry," said K. Wayne Smith, OCLC president and CEO. "He brings a wealth of experience to OCLC at a time when OCLC's involvement in reference services is rapidly accelerating. He is an important addition to our senior management staff."
Mr. Noble has a bachelor's degree in commerce and economics and a master of business administration, both from the University of Toronto.
OCLC is a nonprofit computer library service and research organization whose computer network and services link more than 17,000 libraries in 52 countries and territories.
