Library Automation Update: Auto-Graphics

American Libraries [April 1986]

Abstract: Auto-Graphics, Inc. has introduced Impact, “the online patron access catalog that does it with authority.” Auto-Graphics developed Impact as an online catalog, rather than an add-on to an existing circulation system. In Impact, authority records are integrated with bibliographic information, simplifying the logic through which the data is found. The system accommodates users of all levels, from beginner to pro. Cross references automatically link patrons with library terms, and a related subject list sparks ideas. Impact operates on a UNIX system. Auto-graphics also offers Comback, a computer output microfilm catalog, as an inexpensive backup to the online catalog. Comback is limited to a dictionary catalog with author, subject, and title entries, and is available in 105mm microfiche and 16mm single/dual film.
