The MARINA consortium has selected Relais D2D and Relais ILL to power their statewide resource sharing service for public libraries in Maryland. Relais D2D (Discovery to Delivery) is a next-generation software platform from Relais International and Index Data. MARINA allows patrons to search across the member library catalogs simultaneously and request circulating items directly from any partner library.

Relais D2D is a standards based, open system that offers a framework upon which new services and options can be offered to patrons. The MasterKey platform from Index Data is the basis for a fully featured discovery layer for patrons. A ‘live' availability check notifies the patron immediately as to whether the material they want can be supplied from a MARINA library. Should the material not be available, the option to submit a request for processing via traditional ILL is provided. Interoperability with the member libraries integrated library systems for automatic circulation updates is provided via NCIP and proprietary means, where required. Relais D2D offers circulation interoperability with the following integrated library systems: Ex Libris Voyager, Innovative Interfaces Millennium, SirsiDynix Symphony and Horizon, TLC and soon Polaris. Relais ILL request management provides the ability for staff to send requests outside the consortium when necessary to be filled, including to OCLC WCRS. In addition, scanning from print, and electronic delivery to the patron's desktop as well as to Ariel and Odyssey are part of the complete resource sharing solution.

Wendy Allen, Resource Delivery Manager, Enoch Pratt Free Library says "We look forward to the partnership with Relais International to offer enhanced resource sharing services for the public libraries of Maryland.

Clare MacKeigan, COO of Relais International, says "We are delighted to be working with the public libraries of Maryland to provide a new platform for their MARINA service to address both the immediate needs of these libraries and their patrons and to build a framework for the next generation of Discovery to Delivery."
